Work has already begun on the new home for Foundry Terrace, a health services centre for youth aged 12-24. The plans are drawn and approved, the building site is secured right next door to the interim Foundry at 101-3219 Eby St., and shovels will go in the ground this fall.

“Our goal is to raise $2 million to build the new space for our community’s youth to get the physical and mental health supports they deserve. Since we began our fundraising campaign in September, 2022, we’ve received a groundswell of support from individual community members, as well as some large corporate sponsorships and government grants,” says Michael McFetridge, Executive Director of Terrace and District Community Services Society, which is leading the Foundry project.
“We’re so grateful for the support we’ve received, and feel confident that other businesses and organizations will step up to help us reach our goal.”

What is Foundry
Foundry brings all health services under one roof, making it easier for youth to get the help they need. It’s a system that’s proven to work — Foundry centres across BC and here in Terrace are seeing the effects.

All of these services are currently offered in a relatively small interim space. When the new Foundry Terrace building is complete, there will be more privacy and more room for services, group activities, visiting community partners and more.
Currently, youth peer support is the most used service at Foundry Terrace, followed by groups, mental health and walk-in counselling.
“Becoming a donor is a direct and observable way to contribute to the ongoing health and wellness of the youth in our community and region. The social equity that we can develop over the long term is enormous: the youth supported by Foundry Terrace will become our teachers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, employees, tradespeople, and business partners. They are currently our children, nieces, nephews, siblings, cousins, or even children of our friends. They are our community’s and region’s greatest asset,” McFetridge says.
