Power outage in Terrace affecting thousands caused by vehicle crash

A motor vehicle incident caused a power outage affecting more than a thousand BC Hydro customers in Terrace June 24

 A motor vehicle incident caused a power outage affecting more than a thousand BC Hydro customers in Terrace on the morning of Monday June 24.

The incident took place at 7:12 am near the Chrysler dealership on Highway 16 when a motor vehicle hit and toppled a power pole, scattering electric wires all around.  

By 10:30 a.m. BC Hydro crews were able to switch circuits, reducing the customers affected from 1,171 to 316.

Power was fully restored at 5:08 p.m. on June 24. 

BC Hydro, BC Ambulance, and Terrace RCMP were on the scene at Highway 16 between Kenney St and Munroe St. 

Initial areas affected include south of Soucie Ave., east of Kenney St., west of Kofoed Dr. and north of Haugland Ave.
