Bob was born September 3, 1936, in Gilbert Plains Manitoba, eldest son of John Wesley Patterson and Matilda Anne Patterson. Bob grew up in Winnipeg Manitoba, went to school and worked from a young age as a paper boy, delivering goods for the Eatons Company and eventually becoming an automotive mechanic.
Bob moved to BC and moved around the province living in Kitimat, Thornhill, Lantzville, Masset, Smithers, and finally Port Alberni, he specialized in automotive, heavy-duty mechanics and worked for Alcan, Hayes Trucks Terrace, Ministry of Highways and BC Hydro.
In 1970 Bob married Diana Rae Murray in Kitimat. Bob was a cancer survivor. On March 29, 2024, Bob went to meet his Lord and Savior and passed peacefully at home surrounded by close friends and family.
He predeceased by his parents, brother Philip, and sister Freda.
Bob is survived by his wife Diana, children; Wesley (Sharlene), Roberta, Heather, Jason (Joanne), Rae-lynne (Chad), nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service for Bob will be held April 13, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Jericho Road Church 5100 Tebo Avenue, Port Alberni.
The family would like to thank Doctors Woodley and Williams, and the palliative care team of nurses and care-aids for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
